meet Dr. Alisha
Dr. Alisha Rai (pronounced ‘rye’) is a South African-Canadian medical doctor practicing in Calgary, Alberta. As a sought-after speaker, Alisha thoughtfully and candidly shares her journey through infertility and birth trauma from an informed yet inspiring point of view.
After years of fertility treatments and multiple miscarriages, Alisha and her husband, Liam, were elated to become pregnant with their miracle baby, Aiden. Their dreams were seemingly shattered when Aiden, born two months premature, suffered life-threatening head trauma during birth and required 8 weeks in NICU care. Following a massive stroke, Aiden would later be diagnosed with cerebral palsy - the most common motor disorder affecting children.
Alisha’s raw account of those months of uncertainty, desperation, and heartache will leave you reeling… But her story is one of hope and love.
Her faith and Aiden became a beacon of strength for Alisha - driving her to share her experience and create real change for Canadian families. Together with Liam, Alisha founded Hope for Cerebral Palsy - a non-profit providing access to private early intervention therapies for children with cerebral palsy.
